New contact heating system made by schwartz GmbH inaugurated at Fraunhofer Institute IWU in Chemnitz

Fraunhofer-Institut IWU in Chemnitz

This contact heating system was developed, designed and built by our company for use at the Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming technology IWU, where it serves in the “intelligent press hardening” process chain for heating sheet steel blanks. The austenitised blanks are then formed, hardened and trimmed.

Further projects relying on this system investigate subjects such as the heating behaviour of different materials (e.g., magnesium or aluminium) and the partial heating of parts known as tailored tempering.
